Bev Recommends BCITO

OVERVIEW

Three years of “Tricky Chats” had successfully boosted perceptions towards working in the trades and helped recruit record numbers of new apprentices.

However, a growing industry still needed a steady stream of talent to build Aotearoa’s essential infrastructure, new homes and safe places of work and learning. We needed a fresh way to convince even more young people to trade up to a career in the trades.

In Attractiveness of a career in the trades

Enter Bev.
Proudly, Aotearoa’s most biased career advisor.

With her deep knowledge, and appreciation, of the benefits of an apprenticeship and working in the trades, she knows there’s only one option for any young person looking for a rewarding and fulfilling career: construction.

In mockumentary style, we’re a fly on the wall to Bev getting to know the hopes and concerns of a variety of career seekers. Her in-office advice and on-site visits communicate the many advantages of an apprenticeship, combatting any lingering misconceptions to present tradie life as an aspirational “plan A”.

“The young men and women that come to me are full of ambition, all I have to do is point them in the right direction.”

BEV, CAREER ADVISOR

Across social and outdoor we offered a sneak peek into Bev’s career advice masterclass. Using only an overhead projector and her unmatched passion for the trades, Bev delivered her top reasons to start a career in construction.

“This campaign is more than driving recruitment, it’s also about changing perception. We’re really thrilled that EightyOne has been on this journey with us as we continue to build people, build whānau and build communities.”
