EightyOneX
Through our intimate understanding of brands, rights holders and athletes we are able to harness the power of data and smart creative thinking to maximise your sponsorship investment.
Director, Megan Compain has been involved in sport her whole career. After 20 years working with global brands and iconic sports teams, Megan has decided to put her unmatched experience to good use by launching EightyOneX, a sports marketing specialist that aims to maximise sponsor relationships. Whether the need is to grow awareness, loyalty, sentiment or value, EightyOneX will find the best way to amplify your partnership.
“We know it’s getting harder and harder to cut through the noise, stand apart and justify these investments. Companies are tight on resource, sponsorship teams have been cut and added to brand manager portfolios, and time is often in short supply.”
Megan is a former professional athlete, having been the first New Zealander, and still the only New Zealand woman, to play in the WNBA. Read a little more about Megan's basketball career here.
Her professional career took her to Philadelphia and London with AND1, then most notably with adidas, to Nuremberg and Amsterdam as the Global Basketball Sports Marketing Manager. Megan returned home in 2010 to join NZ Rugby, most recently as Head of Commercial partnerships, responsible for key relationships with brands such as adidas, AIG, Tudor, Air New Zealand, Ford, Iveco, Bulgari and Unicef.
Passionate about sport and on a mission to raise the profile of female athletes, Megan was involved in the campaign to rename Wellington’s famous cricket ground the “Support Women’s Sport” Basin Reserve. She will be commentating in the upcoming women’s national basketball league broadcast on Sky Sport and was recently elected to the Basketball New Zealand Board of Directors.
